Climb up a chair…

…walk down a mountain?
I’ve been pondering the line between art and design ever since I read this post on Art is Everywhere. If you call a chair a chair, it’s design. If you call a chair a tree, it’s art. I’m liking this interpretation, which seems especially true of the C.A.M.M. Designs display called Mountains in the UO arts and architecture building. It’s seating and it’s art, and it’s filled with interesting nooks and crannies. The signs on the seats explain that the set-up is designed to allow group and individual spaces. This certainly seemed valid when I stumbled upon the girl in the shot, who was hidden behind one of the “peaks.” I only wish they would have painted the things!
